The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointment:
Cameron MacKay becomes Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States. Mr. MacKay replaces Graeme Clark.
Biographical Note
Cameron MacKay (BA [Economics and Industrial Relations], McGill University, 1990; MES, York University, 1996) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995. At Headquarters, he has served as director of regional trade policy, director general for China trade policy, director general of the Trade Negotiations Bureau and director general of the Trade Sectors Bureau. He has also served as director of operations at the Privy Council Office’s Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat. Abroad, he has served at Canada’s Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva and as ambassador to Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua and to Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Most recently, he served as high commissioner in India and ambassador to Bhutan and to Nepal.
